Canadian employers hire foreign workers every year to help address skilled labour shortages. Most jobs require that the prospective employee apply for a Labour Market Opinion (LMO) from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC).
Depending on some criteria, some temporary workers are exempt from work permit requirements while others require a work permit without an LMO. The application procedure differs for the different categories.
